What a special journey this is going to be! In 2020, the Netherlands will be celebrating 75 years of freedom!
Between October 1944 and May 1945, Canadian forces pushed the German enemy out of the Netherlands. They also cleared the way for reinforcements and supplies for the Allied Forces, and food for the starving Dutch.
Canada brought freedom to the Netherlands, and new life at the end of the Second World War.
During this bus trip, we will be taking you on a journey along the two biggest liberation operations of the Netherlands; the Battle of the Westerschelde and Operation Market Garden. The tour will come to a close in Apeldoorn, near De Hoge Veluwe National Park. Apeldoorn has a special connection with Canada, as the Loo Palace housed the last Canadian headquarters of the war. On May 9th and 10th, Apeldoorn will be hosting the Canadian Liberation Festival. Extend your stay, and experience how the Dutch celebrate their connection with Canada!
This trip will start in picturesque Bruges in Belgium. Shortly after, we will cross the border into the Netherlands. Experience how the Dutch commemorate the war on May 4, and how they celebrate their freedom. We will visit some historical cities, where you will experience how the Netherlands was rebuilt after the war. You will also learn everything about the renowned Dutch water management, and what we do to keep our feet dry.
Tip: extend your stay to visit the unique flower bulb fields, attend the Canadian Liberation Festival, and discover more of the Netherlands. Of course, we’ll help you schedule.
