Market Garden was the largest operation on Dutch territory during the 2nd World War. Thousands of paratroopers are dropped around Arnhem and also the Ginkelse Hei. The operation was largely a failure because a last bridge at Arnhem could not be taken. A bridge too far. Partly because of this, the north and west of the Netherlands were not liberated and these areas were confronted with the hunger winter.
From September 1944 up to and including the liberation in May 1945, Gelderland was the center of the liberation struggle. The Waldhoorn Regional Guide has set out this route itself, where she has knowledge about the history and the most beautiful places in the Veluwe. Imagine yourself in Operation Market Garden and the beautiful nature of the Veluwe.
