Experience De Waagh!
You can’t miss this period property, Town Café and restaurant De Waagh, which dates back to 1612. It is Nijmegen’s eye-catcher in Grote Markt, a homage to the Renaissance and honouring four centuries of history.

For many decades merchants were obliged to have their goods weighed at the weighhouse. The weight of their goods determined the amount of tax they had to pay. De Waagh survived all storms and even heavy bombing during the Second World War.

After having served as the council’s warehouse for a while, a catering establishment took over the listed building in 1977. Today life is celebrated in De Waagh itself and in its outdoor café, daily from 10am. Here guests can enjoy having a drink, an elaborate lunch, dinner or a tasty snack. There are also various rooms for parties, weddings, private dining or business meetings.
