The ‘De Schommel’ monument in Nijmegen was erected in memory of the 763 fellow townspeople who died during the Allied bombardment of 22 February 1944. Among them were 24 children and eight religious sisters from the primary school belonging to the Society of J.M.J., which stood at this site.
