The Welsh Guard Monument, a German cannon placed at the National Liberation Museum in Groesbeek, commemorated the British infantrymen of the 53rd Welsh Division. In the morning of 8 February 1945, they captured this gun just across the border near Horst. The gun had been fired daily at the area of Groesbeek since September 1944.
